Cladco Environmental
Here at Cladco Profiles we are dedicated to an ethical and environmentally friendly future, doing as much as we can to ensure this is considered in all aspects. As a business, there are three key areas we focus on to ensure we are minimising our footprint and maximising positive change, consistently taking steps forward to achieve this.
RECYCLABLE
RESPONSIBLE
RENEWABLE
ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
Supporting well-managed forests and recycled sources with FSC® Certification.
FSC® stands for 'Forest Stewardship Council'. They are an international non-profit organisation which are committed to advocating responsible forestry.
FSC® are involved in certifying forests around the world to ensure the highest environmental and social standards are met. FSC® has two components in their global forest certification system:
- Forest Management
- Chain of Custody
Although reforestation methods, such as hand-planting, are helpful in combatting land degradation, it is vital to control production and ensure restrictions are in place. By using recycled hardwood fibres in our Composite products, we are not contributing to deforestation and are preventing materials from going to waste.
Cladco Profiles is proud to save an average of
520 million plastic bottles
from polluting our oceans per year. This equates to
6240 tonnes of plastic.
RECYCLABLE
Our commitment to environmental wellbeing is woven into every asset of our business. We take steps everyday to ensure we are recycling our materials wherever this is possible.
- Composed of 60% hardwood fibres and 40% recycled plastic, the materials in our Composite products are responsibly-sourced to reduce materials in landfill.
- The hardwood fibres are derived from recycled timber, so our Composite products help to combat deforestation of forests and woodlands.
- Our steel coils are entirely recyclable (including the inner tube), as well as our Sample Boxes and postage bags. 99% of all Cladco packaging is recyclable.
- All of our steel Sheet offcuts are collected, weighed and stripped, if required, and sent to recycling plants across Europe and the world.
RESPONSIBLE
Each year, approximately 16.5 MILLION tonnes of plastic enter our oceans and 15 BILLION trees are cut down.
How is Cladco Profiles contributing to the protection of our environment and decreasing plastic pollution?
- We continue to grow our Composite range. With a blend of recycled materials, hardwood fibres make up 60% and post-consumer plastics make up 40% of our Composite Products, are responsibly-sourced to reduce materials in landfill.
- TEach year, on average, Cladco Profiles saves 6240 tonnes of plastic from going to waste, through our Composite product sales.
RENEWABLE
It is important for us to consider how we can utilise renewable energy in our business. One of the ways in which we have worked towards an environmentally friendly future is by using renewable energy.
- With solar panels fitted at our HQ in Okehampton, Devon, our machinery used to roll and press steel Roofing Sheets is powered by solar energy.
- We have our own filtering system in-house to deionise water used to power our forklifts, saving thousands of plastic bottles from entering landfill and/or the ocean.
- In 1982, we purchased our first electric forklift. Since then, we have added to our fleet and now over 50% of our forklifts are electric across all of our sites.
Playing a critical role in addressing environmental concerns.
As an ISO 14001 accredited business, the International Standard for Environmental Management ensures that we, as a business, continue to reduce our environmental impact. Through our dedication to high-quality, environmentally friendly products, we are committed only to a future that sees strategic business growth and environmental responsibility work together.
It also shines a spotlight on waste reduction and energy conservation and guarantees Cladco Profiles’s regulatory compliance. This accreditation signifies Cladco Profiles’s commitment to regulatory compliance and ongoing environmental improvements.
